The latest installment in the Fast and Furious series, opened last week to a whopping first weekend collection. According to the Hollywood Reporter, it is the fourth-highest-grossing global opening of all time, behind Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows: Part 2 ($US483.2 million opening in 2011), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince ($US394 million opening in 2009) and The Avengers ($US392.5 million opening in 2012).
The film stars Vin Diesel, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, and Paul Walker in his final film. Actor Paul Walker died in a 2013 car crash at the age of 40 and his work on the film was completed using digital technology and a series of stand-ins. The speed racing action thriller ends with a touching tribute dedicated simply, “For Paul.”
Excited theatergoers experienced a roller coaster ride of emotions after watching Fast and Furious 7. The movie was packed with hilarious one liners and amazing car chase sequences but what really set it apart was the tribute to late Paul Walker at the end which left most people teary-eyed.
