Chennai, March 17 (ANI): A vendor in Chennai city attempted to create a world record by making 1,000 different types of idli, a popular breakfast dish rice cake in south India and Sri Lanka. People thronged at a school premises, venue of the event, to take a glimpse of an assortment of idlis which were on display. Children were amazed to see different shapes and sizes of idlis which included Indian flag, cartoons, animals, number and others. Idli, a savoury cake, is a traditional breakfast in south Indian households. However, idli vendor, Iniyavan created a twist by adding various flavours to it like almond, pista or pistachio, vegetables, chocolate and fruits. Iniyavan said he wanted to create awareness among people as idli is a steamed dish which is healthy. Iniyavan along with team of 15 people worked for two days to prepare 1,000 varieties of idli.
